It is assumed that on this day Lord Rama, nearby his accomplice Sita and unfaltering kin Lakshman was returning to where he grew up Ayodhya following 14 delayed extensive stretches of untouchable in the forested areas. He had as of late finished the way toward drawing in and overcoming the enraged underhandedness nearness master of Ceylon, Ravana, who had seized Sita. In this battle he was proficiently helped by Lord Hanuman and his outfitted power of monkeys and furthermore a large number of striking bears. The all inclusive community of Ayodhya lit lights in each home to welcome their genuine King and laud his triumph over Ravana and moreover the protected return of their Queen Sita. They moved and made euphoric and lit firecrackers to express their euphoria over his landing. Likewise, as a normal for respect and love the festivals continue with reliably till this today.
As another lesser-known story goes, Lord Krishna had battled a detestable nearness called Narakasura and rose fruitful. The overall public of the city were excited and welcomed Krishna back with lights in their grip. Since Rama and Krishna are two of the most standard perfect creatures in the Hindu legend, it is simply predictable that Diwali is commended with such service and greatness.

How is Diwali Celebrated?

As demonstrated by an outdated legend, Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth experiences the aggregate of our homes on Diwali night and stops to support the homes that are gleaming and shining clean. So as this festival approaches, all houses encounter a thorough spring-cleaning completely expecting her wealth and gifts. She will be invited by a superb gladly painted Rangoli on the edge of each home while inside too she is welcomed by an assortment of sparklers and insignificant earthen lights that light up and fundamentally illuminate the air.
The genuine good times start from Dhanteras, which is lauded two days before Diwali. Everybody attempts to make colossal purchases and buy new articles of clothing and diamonds. This is in light of the fact that this day is seen as favorable for wealth, and it is said that in case you buy any silver or gold on this day, you will be blessed reliably. The goddess Lakshmi is venerated on this day through a Lakshmipujan, which is performed in the homes and in addition in shops and working environments as well.
Regardless, what may Diwali be without an impacted of sparklers and lights? The sound and light show starts no under seven days going before the genuine festival and continues with course into the New Year. Clearly it accomplishes a crescendo upon the landing of Diwali itself, multi day when people spruce up in their best new pieces of clothing and go setting off to each other, their relatives and friends with boxes of dry sustenances developed from the beginning piles of love in their colossal liberal hearts

"Let us pray to the gods," said Dasharatha to his wives. "Yes," said queen Kaushalya, "perhaps they will be kind to us and give us children."
So Dasharatha and his queens prayed fervently to the gods in heaven. Finally there prayers were answered when a divine being arose from the sacrificial flames holding a bowl of payasam, rice pudding.
"O king," said this divine spirit,"The gods are pleased with your sacrifice. Vishnu himself has decided to be born on earth as your son. Divide this payasam between these three saintly queens, and in time divine children will be born to you." King Dasharatha shared the payasam equally between his three wives, but a crow swooped down and took Sumitra's portion before she could eat. Queen Kaushalya and Queen Kaikeyi immediately shared part of there portions with Queen Sumitra. When the proper time had passed each of the Queens gave birth to a son, Kaushalya gave birth to Rama, Kaikeyi to Bharata, and Sumitra, because she has eaten two portions, gave birth to the twins Lakshmana and Shatrughna.
These four sons of king Dasharatha were god given and were all embodiments of the great lord Vishnu, hence there beauty, power, skill and strength. But prince Rama was the bravest and wisest and most handsome of them all. On the day that the four princes reached the age of manhood, king Dasharatha made an announcement: "I decree that my son, prince Rama will succeed to the throne of Ayodhya."
On hearing this, the entire kingdom erupted in an outpouring of joy. But there was one person who was not please at all. This was old Manthara. A hunchback ed servant of Queen Kaikeyi, mother of prince Bharata. Manthara craftily poised kaikeyi's mind against Rama with lies.
"When he becomes king, Rama will turn on your son Bharata and exile him. Or worse!" She condensed kaikeyi to go to the king and demand that her son Bharata be named successor, and that Rama be banished. King Dasharatha was heart-broken but many years before, he had made a vow to grant Kaikeyi anything she wished, so he had to agree. Rama calmly obeyed his father's instruction to stand aside for his brother Bharata without a singke word of complaint, he prepared to leave Ayodhya for life in the jungle. "I will accompany you," said his wife Sita. Rama tried to persuade her to stay in Ayodhya, but she would not hear of it. She exchanged her beautiful clothing, fit for a princess, for rough clothes suitable for a jungle dweller. Rama's loyal brother Lakshmana also vowed to join them in their humble life far from the comfort and luxuries of the royal palace. Bharata, the devoted to his bother Rama, shocked at his mother's actions. "I will rule in your name while you are gone," he said, "and when you return the kingdom shell be your's again. Please, I bag you, give me a pare of your sandals." Rama gave Bharata a pare of his sandals and Bharata immediately placed them on the throne as the symbol of Rama's rule.
Finally  Rama, Sita and Lakshmana left the palace. They said farewell to the grieving citizens of Ayodhya, and began there journey to the jungle for there years of exile. While all this was taking place, there lived in the far of Iceland of Lanka, a cruel and powerful demon king called Ravana. He was fearsome to behold, with ten heads and twenty arms. He road in a chariot pulled throught the air by man-eating mules with sharp teeth ! Evil Ravana sent his demons out from the Lanka to oppress the wise men and women of the world, to disrupt their sacrifices to the Gods and Goddess, and to make the lives ordinary folk miserable. When Rama, Sita and Lakshamana arrived in the jungle, the wise men and women greeted them joyfully. "O great princes, o wise princess," they said, "please we bag you to protect us from Ravana's fearsome demons." So Rama and Lakshmana took up there weapons and fought Ravana's demon hordes. They protect the wise men and women from the vicious attacks by the demons that owed allegiance to Ravana. After sometime Ravana's angry demons, brought word to him that two mighty heroes were driving them away from there victims, and were continually defeating them in battle. Ravana was outrage and decided to take revenge on Rama. He flew in his chariot pulled by flying mules to Rama's jungle home. Seeing Rama and Lakshamana living a simple life with the beautiful Sita, Ravana devised an evil plan. He decided to kidnap sita and make her one of his wives in Lanka. By trick he lured both Rama and Lakshmana away from the jungle hut where they lived. Then he disguised himself as a harmless old man. "Please give me somthing to drink," he said to Sita. "Certainly, old father," said the tinder-hearted Sita, inviting him in. In the blink of an eye he scooped her up in his arms and, despite her angry cries for help he flew off with her to Lanka. When Rama and Lakshamana returned to there dwelling place they were dismayed to find that Sita had vanished. Rama was destroyed and he and Lakshmana searched everywhere for her. They finally  encountered Jatayu the vulture king lying wounded on the ground. He told them a strange tale. "O prince," gasped Jatayu, with his dying breath. " I saw Ravana, the demon king, fleeing in the chariot through the air. In the chariot was a beautiful women crying out for help. I tried to stoped him, but Ravana wounded me grievously." Rama and Lakshmana immediate began to seek for word of Ravana's whereabouts. In their search they come across Sugriva. The king of the Monkie's. One of Sugriva's followers was the powerful monkey Hanuman, who became Rama's most faithful devotees. "O great king," said Rama respectfully, "My brother and I are searching for my wife Sita, who has been taken by Ravana the demon king. Help us I beg you to find her." Sugriva, Hanuman and all the monkeys eagerly agreed to help Rama in hus search. They findout in all directions looking for Sita. It was Hanuman who flew over the sea to far of Iceland of Lanka. Where he finely located the weeping Sita. "O beautiful lady," said Hanuman, "Dry your tears your brave husband Rama is coming to rescue you." then Hanumana played a trick on Ravana and the demons. He allowed himself to captured and bound with ropes. The cruel demons set fire to his tell. Whereupon he broke his bonds and leapt from roof to roof, setting fire to all of Lanka. Hanuman then return to Rama and told him of his discovery. Rama, Lakshmana, Hanuman and an uncountable multitude of fierce monkeys marched towards the sea. With tremendous energy the monkey army built a bridge of rocks which they crossed. They marched right up to the very gates of Ravanas palaces. "Who dares invade my kingdom," shouted the enraged Ravana. He sent out his demon army to attack monkeys. For many days Rama, Lakshmana and the courageous monkey army fought off the ferocious attacks of the demons. Ravana used all the deceitful and cunning tricks he could think of, but Rama and his allies were able to defeat each one and drive the demons back. Finally Rama and Ravana encountered each other on the battlefield. They fought ferociously but Ravana was finally defeated and killed  by Rama. imagine the joyful reunion husband and wife ! Rama and Sita were reunited to the loud cheers of Lakshmana, Hanuman, Sugriva and all the monkey army. Rama, Sita and Lakshmana bade a fond farewell to there monkey friends, and then made their way back to the royal palace of Ayodhya. All along the way the joyful people lit lamps to celebrate their triumphant progress. The magnificent city of Ayodhya wsa ablaze with lights, as the four royal princes were reunited. Rama and Sita ascended the throne to rule wisely for many a long year. And to this day the festival of Diwali reenacts this triumphant return of Rama and Sita, and the final victory of goodness over evil; truth over ignorance; and light over darkness. Diwali well-known Indian festival.

Diwali well-known Indian festival

Diwali(Dipawali) is one of the most well-known Indian festival.
Celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs, it is known as the festival of lights, celebrating the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Diwas (candle-lit lamps) are put inside and outside of homes and businesses.
There are many reasons people celebrate Diwali and the story of Prince Rama and Sita is one of them, often recited to children over the festival period.
Rama was exiled from his home for 14 years by his father, King Dashratha, who ruled over the kingdom of Ayodhya. Rama's stepmother Queen Kaikeyi had wanted her sons to become King, not Dashratha's eldest sons Rama and Lakshmana. She forced the King to send the two into exile. They obeyed and moved with Rama's wife Sita to live in the forest.
One day, the demon Ravana kidnapped Sita and it was up to Rama, his brother Lakshmana and the monkey king, Hanuman, to save her. After a fierce battle between Rama, Lakshmana and Hanuman with Ravana's armies, the demon was defeated. As 14 years had passed, they then returned home with Sita. Oil lamps were lit to guide them on their way home and to rejoice their victory.
An another story about Diwali

This happened in the Krita Yuga (Golden Age). Hiranyaksha, an asura, dived into the ocean. To rescue earth, Lord Vishnu assumed the form of a wild boar, Varaaha, and went after the asura. Varaaha overpowered Hiranyaksha in the duel that he fought under the water, and restored earth to its original position in the universe.
Varaaha achieved this magnificent feat with apparent ease, and the only sign of his exertion was a drop of sweat, which fell on the ground. A fully grown young warrior arose from this drop of Lord Varaaha’s sweat. His name was Naraka.
Bhoodevi or Mother Earth took a liking to this son of hers and asked Lord Varaaha that her son should become invincible. Varaaha pulled out one of his tusks and gave it to Naraka saying he could use it as a weapon whenever he was in great danger.
“Use your great powers to do only good, son,” said Lord Varaaha. “Uphold dharma.”
Naraka went away to seek his fortune.
“I’ve no doubt he will become the most powerful warrior in the three worlds,” said Bhoodevi expressing admiration for her son.
“Powerful, he will certainly be,” said Lord Varaaha. “Will he also uphold dharma? What makes an individual great is his adherence to dharma.”
Centuries rolled by. Krita Yuga was followed by Treta Yuga and then came Dwapara Yuga (we are in the Kali Yuga that followed the Dwapara Yuga). By then, people who had acquired power but brushed aside dharma had grown in number. Simply put, upholding dharma means being kind, truthful, caring and helpful. Its opposite, adharma, means being untruthful, arrogant, violent and destructive.
Lord Vishnu would take birth on earth to uphold dharma and to root out adharma. Each of his births is called an avatar or the descent of the Lord.
In the Dwapara Yuga, Lord Vishnu had come down to Earth as Krishna, the Yadava hero. He vanquished his wicked uncle Kamsa. He brought about the destruction of kings who were not adhering to dharma.
Meanwhile, Naraka had grown very powerful. Ruling from his impregnable fortress of Prag-jyotisha-pura or the land of the rising sun, he had conquered earth and heaven. Drunk with power, he snatched away the celestial ear rings of Aditi, the mother of the devas.
Indra, the Lord of the devas, sought Krishna’s help to vanquish the invincible Naraka. Sathyabhama, one of Krishna’s wives, was upset when she heard about the misdeeds of Naraka. She urged her husband to act. Armed with his Sudarshana chakraand other weapons, Krishna left for Prag-joyitisha-pura. Sathyabhama went with him. Both of them rode on Garuda, the celestial eagle, which served as a vehicle for Krishna.
To strike at Naraka’s capital, Krishna had to penetrate four layers of its defenses. He flew over the outermost ring of walls made of rocks, he crossed the rings of fire and of spears. Whoever tried to stop him was struck down. The chief defender of Naraka’s fort was Mura. Confident that none could penetrate the rings of defenses he had set up, Mura was relaxing deep down in the ring of water. As each layer of defense crumbled under Krishna’s attack, it caused violent ripples in the water, arousing Mura out of his slumber. Then he heard an ear shattering sound — it was Krishna blowing his conch, Panchajanya.
Enraged, Mura rushed out to stage a counter attack. He fell fighting Krishna, who earned the name, Muraari, the enemy of Mura.
Ultimately Naraka himself came out of his palace to battle Krishna. The two fought day and night. It was hard to say who was more powerful. Naraka was saving the weapon given to him by his father, Lord Varaaha, precisely for such an occasion. On the dark night of Chaturdashi, the fourteenth day of the fortnight of new moon, Naraka took out the deadly tusk of Lord Varaaha and threw it at Krishna. Struck in the chest Krishna fell unconscious. Even as Naraka raised a cry of victory, Sathyabhama picked up the bow and continued the fight. In Satyabhama, Naraka found a worthy foe. He had no clue as to how to stop her onslaught.
As the duel between the two raged on, Krishna opened his eyes. Naraka was startled to see Krishna stand up. If the dreaded weapon of Lord Varaaha had failed, it meant only one thing — his opponent was none other than Lord Varaaha himself, his father. Naraka was dazed. Lord Varaaha’s warning words now rang in his ears: “Use your powers to do only good, son. Uphold dharma.”
He had failed to follow his father’s advice. He meekly submitted, as Krishna threw his Sudarshana chakraat him.
As his life was webbing away, Naraka joined his hands in salutation to Krishna and Sathyabhama. Moved at the sight of the fallen asura, Sathyabhama rushed to him.
Krishna silently watched the reunion of mother and son. Sathyabhama was none other than Bhoodevi, born again!
Naraka saw the light in his dying moments. The darkness was lifted as the dawn broke. That day is celebrated as the festival of lights, Deepavali or Diwali, which signifies that we have to emerge from darkness to light.
Adapted from the Mahabharata and the Bhagavata Purana.
